Going North marks the first exhibition of the year at Hin Bus Depot,
presented by CHETAK 17, a collective dedicated to expanding the possibilities of printmaking. This edition moves beyond their usual studio-based showcases, offering a broader perspective on the individual artistic pursuits of its members. While there is no singular theme that ties the works together, the exhibition highlights an important aspect of their practice—experimentation. Each artist has used this opportunity to explore techniques, refine processes, and challenge the boundaries of printmaking, often drawing from personal experiences and artistic disciplines beyond the medium itself. Through this process, they uncover new approaches and insights, sharing them within the collective while pushing the boundaries of their individual practices.

The exhibition features works by CHETAK 17 members Faizal Suhif, Bayu Utomo Radjikin, Samsudin Wahab, Azam Aris, Haslin Ismail, and Fadli Mokhtar, alongside invited artists Abdul Mansoor Ibrahim, Jamil Mat Isa, Mursyidah Zainal, A. Rahman Mohamed, Fuad Pathil, Nik Syahida Sabri, and Luqman Yusri. Their works range from print-based explorations to mixed-media and experimental approaches, reflecting the fluidity between tradition and innovation. Going North presents each artist’s evolving creative process whilst also reinforcing CHETAK 17’s role as a space for collaboration, discovery, and technical mastery—an ongoing journey that continues to shape and redefine contemporary printmaking.
